Kirtlington Lamb Ale 2002

And what a wet day it was, Sunday May 26th. 2002. Adderbury had a team who stepped out boldly in the sunshine to join the procession from the church to the school, once there we were dispatched to the village hall where we were joined by a few stragglers and danced as our second number the Lollipop Man, during which it started to rain....

and it rained and it rained and it rained. Which lead us round to the back of the Dashwood Arms which to the dismay of all concerned was closed and looking sadly derelict. Adderbury braved the rain but no effort was more valiant than that of the step dance group Isis who improvised a little number based on "Singing in the Rain", here is an extract from it.

A quick but erroneous trip down to the Oxford delayed our appearance on the school playground. perhaps this little diversion contributed to the evident hysteria displayed by the team, or perhaps it was simply joy at the fact it had stopped raining for a brief moment.

A further excursion to the Oxford saw us teamed up with Windsor and an extended and very technical debate on our stick sliding technique... we're the envy of the world in this respect... and it rained a lot more so all in all we were pretty keen to get back to the school for the finale and then go home. As it happened it then stopped raining and we were able to observe a rare outing by Headington Quarry, all the more welcome as there had been rumours the team was folding. However I'm not sure that everyone who had been slogging round in the rain all morning were particularly impressed by the notion of having a "special guest team', what, people asked, did that make everyone else?

And when it was all over everyone agreed that, despite the rain, it had been a pretty good day, so there you are.
